How To Use The Boom Cards and Technology Effectively in Distance Learning for Special Education Needs Children

Not only for the general kids, Coronavirus school shutdown along with lockdown has also been difficult for children with different special needs. There is end number of educational tools for the virtual / distance learning practices and sometimes, as a special educator, you may feel overwhelming to select the best ones! This happens more when you don’t have much time to strategize your lessons therefore the special needs education courses are crucial.

Since boom cards are new to most of the usage, this blog post will focus on understanding the Boom cards and how it can make online learning much easier in a better way!

What is the Boom Card?

The Boom Cards are a part of the Boom learning which is a digital platform that permits teaching professionals to download free or paid digital activities for students of all ages. Boom learning cards are really transformational and you must be connected to the internet if you want to access them. Boom cards can play on any up-to-date browsers like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge, etc.

You can even import your google classroom to make it easier and boom cards are compatible with Google classroom, SeeSaw, Schoology, Moodle, Powerschool, Microsoft Teams and other parallel online platforms that permit you to allocate by URL. Your students can access them from home or school and these boom cards activities can be played on a tablet or a computer along with a stable internet connection.

So, do you need an account to use Boom cards? Yes, with your account you can use boom cards that you have purchased or downloaded from the Boom Learning store. You can create a free account and a premium account too and due to COVID-19 school terminations, you will have access to the paid version for free through July!

How the Boom Learning cards are truly transformational?

Well, in order to use boom cards, your students will need an electronic device like a smartphone, tablet, laptop, computer with an internet connection.
 

  • You can distinguish the learning assignments within seconds by giving students different decks to work on via boom cards.
  • Boom cards provide the students with prompt feedback on their answers and as a result, your students aren’t practicing inaccurately!
  • When they use different boom decks, your learners will feel like having a teacher sitting next to them… even though they’re working individualistically or at home!
  • Boom card allows creators to contain audio clips as well.
  • Learners can also touch a picture and hear the pronounced word audibly, so there’s no misunderstanding about what an image is supposed to represent.
  • Your students will like boom cards because they are so interactive.
  • Boom cards make learning fun for the special needs kids to practice everyday skills like math facts or sight words.

Google Classroom makes it easier to allocate the boom cards to your special needs students. If you wish, you can also arrange your class in Boom by introducing your Google classroom roster. Then students can sign into the boom with their Google classroom account. Correspondingly, if you are working with students on Zoom or a similar platform, you can either share your screen to let them play OR you can have them play and you can turn on "live updates" in the report section!

Well, it’s quite easy to create creative boom cards for the boom learning platform and this is being called a set of cards a "deck". By using the simple drag and drop tools you can easily design boom cards for use in your own classroom or if you wish to share in Marketplace. However, you may not share or purchase the boom cards with others through account sharing or any other methods.

The boom cards are self-grading exercises that never expire and these are gamified for students with different special needs and provide the apt data which special educational teachers want.
